Job Description

About the role 

The Lecturer / Senior Lecturer contributes to the design, management and delivery of teaching subject modules within Bachelor of Property (Development, Investment and Valuation).

Opportunities are available to teach the following subjects:

  • PRO110A Principles of Valuation – offered in T1 & T3
  • PRO340A Statutory and Specialist Valuation – offered in T2 and T3
  • PRO120A Introduction to Property Industry
  • PRO134A Property Development

The Lecturer / Senior Lecturer is responsible for providing a high-quality teaching and learning experience to students, achieved through ongoing development of scholarly activity in the allocated subject(s) and learning and teaching practice. 

The Senior Lecturer (Level C) makes a significant contribution in scholarship and plays a significant role in scholarly activity.   The Senior Lecturer makes significant contributions to the teaching effort of the faculty and plays a major role in scholarship, professional activities and subject or program coordination.    

If appointed at Level B or C, you will:

  • Provide academic leadership within the allocated subject(s) offering support to students in the subject area related to student outcomes and course delivery. 
  • Act as a key point of contact between students and faculty covering allocated subjects (subject lead). 
  • Participate in the evaluation and development of courses for the purpose of curriculum renewal and accreditation. 
  • Utilise engaging and relevant materials and activities, consistent with the aims, goals and outcomes of the subject, as directed by the Program Manager. 
  • Lead and coordinate other teachers in academic administration within the allocation of a subject. 
  • Independently maintain a scholarship profile with an output of one peer-reviewed publication per year or three other scholarly outputs and record scholarly activities in SOAR. 
  • Apply scholarship to the learning context ensuring an informed and contemporary approach. 

If appointed at Level C, you will: 

  • Engage in innovative learning and teaching practices 
  • Support, ensure and maintain compliance with relevant legislation and institutional policies and procedures, including diversity, equity and health & safety. 
  • Evidence an ability to maintain an impactful scholarship profile that complements the Faculty and Institution. 
  • Promote and enhance student learning experiences through engagement with industry and broader community to develop work integrated learning opportunities and support employability initiatives. 
  • Actively contribute to the ICMS culture, events, and displays and fosters ICMS values in others 
  • Lead to ensure a student-centred culture with positive, respectful relationships 

About you 

To be appointed at Level B or C, you will have:

  • A minimum of a Master’s degree in Property, Valuation, Real Estate, or a closely related discipline
  • Professional recognition as a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) and Registered Valuer, or equivalent industry accreditation and substantial professional experience

To be appointed at Senior Lecturer, Level C, in addition to the above attributes, you will have or be able to demonstrate: 

  • Ability to implement institutional vision into teaching activities 
  • A track record in promoting a student-centred culture and in establishing respectful relationships in work and study 
  • A track record in developing meaningful and impactful partnerships with the broader community, by actively engaging and collaborating with external stakeholders 
  • Demonstrated ability to promote the performance and reputation of the Institution through engaged scholarship

Award / Pay Details 

Educational Services (Post-Secondary Education) NSW 2020 

  • Lecturer (Level B) salary is $98,800 to $108,680 to be pro rata’d to part-time
  • Senior Lecturer (Level C) is $112,632 to $122,512 to be pro rata’d to part-time
