Work Integrated Learning (WIL) is central to ICMS’s purpose of educating students for personal success in their professional life. This role enables learning activities that integrate theory with practice through the preparation, placement, monitoring and support of students undertaking professional placements or graduate programs, while cultivating strong industry relationships.  

This role is also pivotal in developing and managing a portfolio of alumni, industry and employer relationships, proactively seeking new opportunities and providing collaboration with various stakeholders. 

The Professional Placement Consultant (Graduate & Industry Engagement)  is an integral member of the Employability team, and is responsible for preparing, mentoring and supporting students through professional placement and graduate opportunities, while developing strong industry and alumni partnerships that enhance student employability outcomes. 

Working closely with students, employers, alumni and academic stakeholders, you will build and manage a portfolio of industry and alumni relationships, identify placement and graduate opportunities, coordinate employability initiatives and events, and contribute to creating meaningful pathways from education to employment. 

Responsibilities include: 

• Prepare students for successful workplace transitions through the delivery of student/graduate readiness programs, including resume development, interview preparation, professional branding, networking and career coaching. 
• Manage graduate employment pathways by supporting students through graduate program recruitment cycles, application processes, assessments, employer engagement activities and career planning. 
• Develop and maintain strong industry partnerships that create employment, internship, mentoring and experiential learning opportunities for students and graduates. 
• Coordinate industry engagement initiatives, including employer presentations, networking events, industry days, masterclasses, alumni panels, competitions and case challenges. 
• Facilitate student participation in employability-enhancing activities such as industry projects, awards programs, volunteering, professional development workshops and leadership opportunities. 
• Build and grow alumni engagement programs to expand mentoring networks, graduate pathways, industry connections and employer advocacy opportunities. 
• Collaborate with academic staff to embed employability and graduate readiness outcomes within curriculum and co-curricular learning experiences. 
• Monitor and report on student placement and graduate outcomes, maintaining accurate records, analysing trends and providing timely support and escalation for workplace-related matters. 
• Maintain effective stakeholder management practices through the accurate use of CRM and LMS platforms, ensuring quality engagement records, reporting and communication with students, alumni and industry partners. 
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of Work-Integrated Learning and Employability programs through project work, research, process enhancements, marketing initiatives and representation at internal and external forums.

To be successful in this role, you should hold the following attributes: 

• Degree qualified in a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience 
• Proven business development skills and ability to build, maintain and develop strong external and internal relationships 
• An understanding of recruitment and placement processes, with an interest in supporting students to develop and enhance their graduate employability skills 
• An understanding of work-integrated learning and its relevance to the required industries 
• Cross cultural skills and an understanding of the different approaches required 
• Superior computing skills (Office 365 and CRM e.g. Salesforce) 
• Proven ability to achieve targets and key deliverables in a demanding environment, balancing competing priorities while maintaining positive and productive working relationships. 
• Interpersonal, negotiation, written and oral communication skills 
• Attention to detail and an ability to focus on continuous improvement 
• The ability to collaborate across teams to implement initiatives and projects 
• Previous experience in the areas of study offered by the College  
• An understanding of the Australian HE and VET sectors
